Just 5 miles from ancient Gloucester and a short walk from the Severn estuary you’ll find a true patch of heaven on Feather Down Moor Farm. The Watts family are very much involved members of the rare breed association, plus the proud owners of a successful small-scale catering business that prides itself on using as many products from the farm or the local area as possible.
As for the children, they’ll have a blast building dens or playing hide and seek in the copse where the tents are located. The older ones might go down to the canal (5-minute walk) for some fishing and boating, or take to the new cycle trail around the farm. Otherwise, there is Richard to help round up the cutest looking flock of Hampshire Down sheep – a rare though adorably cuddly looking breed – followed by some deer spotting as dusk sets in.
As part of the Feather Down concept, there is no electricity or WiFi in the cosy accommodations. Candles and oil lamps provide a warm light and a rustic wood stove is available for cooking. Each accommodation has quality bedding, an equipped kitchen, a toilet, a dining area and a barbecue. Dogs are allowed in this location.
